MERITUS are recruiting for CI Manufacturing Engineers to join our client on an initial 12 month contract from their major site in Bolton. For the role we require someone to have obtained, and be able to evidence their HNC, HND, BENG, or BSC on application.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - £35 PER HOUR - 12 MONTHS - BOLTON, ONSITE - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

The successful candidate will support Assembly Operations by developing, optimising, and improving internal stores and logistics processes to enhance the delivery of products to both domestic and international customers. This role involves leading and supporting waste and defect reduction initiatives to increase productivity, reduce costs, and enable higher production rates. The candidate will coordinate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure transparency and alignment on all ongoing improvement activities, providing leadership and direction across all operational levels.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Setting up, supporting, and governing Continuous Improvement (CI) reviews to ensure sustainability

  • Facilitating CI plans and implementing corrective and preventive actions

  • Supporting root cause analysis for externally supplied products

  • Reducing defects, rework, and non-conformances within stores using 8D/A3 methodologies

  • Implementing process controls and capability improvements in logistics

  • Leading problem-solving and improvement activities in manufacturing and logistics

  • Applying Lean tools, Six Sigma methods, and change management techniques

  • Managing improvement projects from initiation to completion

Requirements:

  • A formal Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) and further education or Bachelors

  • Experience in manufacturing and/or warehousing (preferred)

  • Awareness of supply chain and goods receiving practices (preferred)

  • Understanding of MRP, Just-in-Time principles, and fast-paced production environments

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments

  • Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, CI, and quality tools; experience with Minitab is advantageous

  • Ability to analyse data, solve problems, and manage improvement projects effectively

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing, logistics, and engineering processes
