HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER - £NEG - MACCLESFIELD - LIFE SCIENCES & PHARMACEUTICAL
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to support operational teams across construction projects. This role involves implementing health and safety strategy, carrying out inspections, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across all levels of the business.
Responsibilities

Demonstrate strong leadership in promoting a positive health and safety culture.

Support the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager in implementing company-wide HSE strategies, including SOPs and guidance materials.

Conduct thorough and regular safety inspections across construction sites, ensuring compliance and providing feedback.

Lead or support risk reviews, and perform these independently when required.

Respond to accidents or incidents, assisting with investigations and leading where necessary in the absence of senior site leadership.

Engage with enforcement authorities during site visits or post-incident investigations.

Adapt health and safety systems to meet specific client requirements, with appropriate approvals.

Contribute to tender and prequalification submissions by offering practical HSE input and risk mitigation strategies.

Participate in project start-up meetings and represent the HSE function in meetings with clients and the supply chain.

Promote use of the management system, providing coaching and guidance to ensure consistent application.

Deliver internal training on relevant health and safety topics.
Experience and Skills

Chartered Member or Graduate Member of IOSH (CMIOSH or Grad IOSH).

Minimum of 5 years of experience within the construction industry.

At least 5 years in a professional Health and Safety role.

Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity in root cause analysis.

Proven ability to lead improvement initiatives and deliver effective training.

Experience mentoring or supporting trainees within the HSE function.
Qualifications

NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.

NEBOSH Construction Diploma or equivalent.
-
NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety.
-
Awareness of lifting operations and associated safety standards.
