Overview
We are looking for a Senior Electrical and Electronic Design Engineer to lead the conceptual design, development, and successful delivery of complex electrical/electronic systems. This role includes providing technical guidance and mentoring junior engineers, ensuring high standards of design documentation, and supporting the full lifecycle of product development.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical and electronic design, particularly in the development of test equipment, with a strong background in both analogue and digital circuit design.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the creation of electrical/electronic design specifications and oversee work packages for the team

Prepare cost estimates and contribute to project quotations

Act as the lead technical engineer on assigned projects, reporting to the Project Manager

Provide accurate progress and status updates to the project management team

Liaise with customers and internal teams to clarify requirements and ensure design specifications are met

Oversee the development of robust and accurate electrical drawings and electronic documentation

Design PCBs when required and review colleagues’ schematics and wiring schedules for accuracy

Approve manufacturing drawing packs to confirm build readiness

Provide technical support and mentorship to less experienced engineers

Collaborate closely with manufacturing during assembly and testing phases

Conduct and supervise testing, including factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT)

Research, source, and specify components as required

Maintain and update drawings in line with industry standards

Generate technical reference documents and user handbooks as needed

Stay up to date with relevant design standards and industry trends

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Formal engineering qualification in electrical or electronic design
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering (design and implementation)

Experience designing test equipment and analogue/digital interface circuits
-
Must meet Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) requirements
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
-
18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
-
Experience in power engineering
-
Experience with National Instruments hardware and software
