Overview

This is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to be part of something critical.

We're looking for an experienced Sub Contract Manager to support key defence programmes. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll be responsible for delivering a robust, agile and sustainable supply chain. Your role will span strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation and continuous improvement—all within a highly regulated environment.

You'll help develop and implement supply chain strategies to support successful programme delivery, with an emphasis on performance, value, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Delivery

  • Identify and qualify suppliers for programme-critical components and services

  • Lead sourcing and competitive exercises to ensure value for money and on-time delivery

  • Shape and influence tendering and negotiation strategies across the team

  • Implement supplier agreements aligned with customer flow-downs and compliance requirements

  • Support the development of supplier relationship strategies to enhance collaboration and long-term capability

Supplier Management

  • Monitor price, availability, obsolescence and alternative sourcing options

  • Proactively resolve supply issues and escalate risk to schedule or cost as needed

  • Maintain positive and productive relationships with strategic suppliers

  • Track and report supplier performance and risks in line with programme goals

Process & Performance

  • Champion continuous improvement across supply chain processes

  • Align supplier activity with established management frameworks (e.g., OTIF, risk, quality)

  • Collaborate with quality and mission assurance teams to maintain strong performance and compliance

  • Contribute to internal supply chain development projects and capability building

Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications, ideally degree-level, in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering or a related field

  • Demonstrable experience supporting large-scale bids or proposals

  • Strong background in subcontract negotiation and commercial contract management

  • Proven success in supplier relationship development and vendor performance management

  • Sound understanding of supply chain operations in a defence or complex technical environment

  • Working knowledge of subcontract law and risk management principles

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills

Note: Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.
