We're looking for an experienced Sub Contract Manager to support key defence programmes. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll be responsible for delivering a robust, agile and sustainable supply chain. Your role will span strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation and continuous improvement—all within a highly regulated environment.
You'll help develop and implement supply chain strategies to support successful programme delivery, with an emphasis on performance, value, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Delivery

Identify and qualify suppliers for programme-critical components and services

Lead sourcing and competitive exercises to ensure value for money and on-time delivery

Shape and influence tendering and negotiation strategies across the team

Implement supplier agreements aligned with customer flow-downs and compliance requirements

Support the development of supplier relationship strategies to enhance collaboration and long-term capability
Supplier Management

Monitor price, availability, obsolescence and alternative sourcing options

Proactively resolve supply issues and escalate risk to schedule or cost as needed

Maintain positive and productive relationships with strategic suppliers

Track and report supplier performance and risks in line with programme goals
Process & Performance

Champion continuous improvement across supply chain processes

Align supplier activity with established management frameworks (e.g., OTIF, risk, quality)

Collaborate with quality and mission assurance teams to maintain strong performance and compliance

Contribute to internal supply chain development projects and capability building
Requirements

Relevant qualifications, ideally degree-level, in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering or a related field

Demonstrable experience supporting large-scale bids or proposals

Strong background in subcontract negotiation and commercial contract management

Proven success in supplier relationship development and vendor performance management

Sound understanding of supply chain operations in a defence or complex technical environment

Working knowledge of subcontract law and risk management principles

Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills
