HEAD OF OPERATIONS - £70,000 / £75,000 PER ANNUM - GREATER BLACKBURN - AVIATION OR DEFENCE BACKGROUND
A confidential aerospace business is seeking an experienced Operations Leader to oversee manufacturing and operational performance. This role is pivotal in driving efficiency, quality, and delivery while building a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership

Lead the monthly SIOP process, ensuring alignment of demand forecasting, capacity planning, material management, and resource allocation.

Oversee manufacturing operations to achieve production schedules, cost targets, and quality standards.

Drive continuous improvement to enhance productivity, utilisation, and efficiency while minimising waste.

Work closely with senior leadership on operational initiatives aligned to customer requirements.

Implement technology and process solutions to improve efficiency and delivery performance.

Champion adherence to core manufacturing principles, focusing on OTD/OTIF, utilisation, and efficiency.
Process Management & Optimisation

Manage capacity and resource planning to meet demand effectively.

Optimise workflows to reduce costs, improve throughput, and shorten lead times.

Use data-driven KPIs to measure and drive operational performance.
Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure operations comply with aerospace regulations, safety standards, and internal policies.

Lead risk management and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.

Maintain a safe working environment and promote health and safety leadership.

Work with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with standards such as NADCAP and ISO9001, and drive effective resolution of non-conformances.
Team Leadership & Development

Build, develop, and lead a high-performing operations team across multiple functions and shifts.

Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.

Develop a long-term workforce plan to support business growth, succession, and skills evolution.

Candidate Profile

Time-served professional with 10+ years in a senior operations role within aerospace or advanced manufacturing.

Proven track record of driving operational excellence and delivering results.

Strong knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and operational dynamics.

Experienced in KPI-driven environments, with a continuous improvement mindset.
