MERITUS Talent are working with one of the World's leading aerospace organisations for the recruitment of a Production Planner to join their Farnborough office on a long term contract basis. The role is paying £33 per hour via umbrella, and requires an onsite presence full time.
Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Production Planner / Material Planner to join a leading aerospace organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and scheduling all aspects of the production process within a manufacturing environment. This position requires strong proficiency in ERP systems for managing production orders, inventory, and forecasting demand.
The role is ideal for someone with experience in aerospace or similarly regulated industries, who can combine analytical skills with the ability to collaborate across functions to ensure efficient and timely production.
Key Responsibilities
Production Scheduling & Planning

Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring alignment with customer demand, inventory levels, and resource availability.

Use ERP systems (e.g. D365) to create, update, and manage production/work orders and material requisitions.

Monitor production capacity and ensure efficient use of resources, adjusting schedules as required.
Inventory Management

Track inventory levels, manage raw materials, and coordinate goods flow to prevent shortages or overstocking.

Use MRP systems to ensure timely procurement of parts and materials.
Data Analysis & Reporting

Generate production reports using ERP systems to track KPIs such as on-time delivery, efficiency, and inventory turnover.

Analyse historical data and demand trends to forecast production needs and optimise schedules.
Collaboration

Work closely with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to ensure materials and components meet required specifications.

Act as a liaison between production and management to communicate status, potential delays, and resource constraints.
Continuous Improvement

Identify and recommend improvements to production processes to streamline operations.

Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives, applying best practices for waste reduction and resource optimisation.
Qualifications & Experience

Previous experience in production planning / material planning(essential).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

In-depth knowledge of production processes, MRP, and supply chain management.

Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes and regulatory standards (e.g. AS9100, FAA regulations).

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
