MERITUS Talent are working with a leading aerospace and defence organisation for the recruitment of a Safety and Regulatory Compliance Engineer to join their Hampshire location on an initial 6 month contract. The role is INSIDE IR35, paying £70 per hour via Umbrella and requires candidates to hold an existing Security Clearance.
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Safety and Regulatory Compliance Engineer to join a leading defence organisation in Portsmouth. You’ll play a key part in ensuring safety and environmental compliance across a range of technically advanced engineering programmes, including military satellite communications and related defence systems.
Working within multi-disciplinary project teams, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all activities meet the highest safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout the full engineering lifecycle.
What You’ll Be Doing

Develop and maintain Safety and Environmental Management Plans (SEMP) and Safety and Environmental Cases (SECR).

Chair Safety and Environmental Committee meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

Support product development to meet UK and EU regulatory requirements, including technical files and Declarations of Conformity.

Undertake or facilitate safety and environmental risk assessments across projects.

Provide expert advice to project and product teams on all safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance matters.
What You’ll Need

Proven experience with MOD Safety and Environmental Management processes, including:

ASEMS

DEF STAN 00-056 / 00-051

POSMS / POEMS

Strong understanding of UK and EU product compliance legislation.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Background in the defence, aerospace, or communications sector is highly desirable.

Experience with military satellite communications (MILSATCOM), particularly in maritime domains, is an advantage.

Active SC Clearance is essential for this position.
