Work pattern:
2–3 days on site each week, with remote flexibility. Compressed hours available.
We’re supporting a leading defence organisation as they look for an experienced Functional Systems Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on the functional behaviour of an airborne launcher system, sitting at the heart of a complex air-launched weapons programme.
You’ll take high-level system requirements and turn them into detailed, testable behaviour for the launcher. You’ll work closely with design, software and certification teams to make sure the system behaves exactly as it should and that the evidence generated stands up to scrutiny.
What you’ll be doing

Analysing system-level documentation and developing clear sub-system functional behaviour.

Reviewing technical evidence and producing certification statements.

Working with stakeholders across engineering teams to review design artefacts and resolve queries.

Supporting the closure of non-compliances and helping teams understand requirements.

Managing and organising information through DOORS and standard office tools.
What you’ll need
Essential
-
Strong background in Systems Engineering.

Practical experience using IBM DOORS.

Confident with requirements elicitation and verification.

Ability to review evidence and assess whether it meets requirements.

Quick to absorb complex technical information.

Solid experience with MS Office toolsets.
Desirable
-
Experience with IBM Rhapsody or IBM Engineering Workflow Management.

Background working on air-launched weapons or similar defence systems.

Experience with software-heavy equipment or software-integrated systems.
