MERITUS are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join our client in the Sheet Metal Fabrication and Precision Engineering industry to support growth across a variety of sectors. PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will only be considered if they come from a Manufacturing or Fabrication business.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - £35,000 PER ANNUM (UP TO £75,000 OTE) - STOCKPORT, UK - FAST MOVING PROCESS

Meritus is supporting a growing engineering and fabrication group in the appointment of a Business Development Manager, initially focused on developing new business within a sheet metal fabrication operation.

This is a results-driven commercial role, where success is measured by contracts secured and revenue delivered — not activity metrics.

The Role

You will take ownership of securing new fabrication and sheet metal contracts, converting enquiries into confirmed orders, and building long-term customer relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Winning new fabrication and engineering contracts

  • Converting quotations and opportunities into secured work

  • Identifying framework agreements and repeat-order opportunities

  • Leading commercial negotiations through to order placement

  • Working closely with estimating and operations to ensure accurate scoping and commercially sound delivery

  • Managing smooth handover from contract award to production

  • Maintaining clear pipeline visibility and realistic workload forecasting

  • Signed contracts and confirmed orders

  • Consistent increase in workload

  • Strong repeat business

  • Sustainable commercial margins

  • Seamless transition from sale to delivery

About You

  • Proven track record of securing contracts within engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing

  • Able to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical requirements

  • Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills

  • Self-motivated, practical, and results-focused

  • Comfortable working independently
