MERITUS are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join our client within the aerospace and defence sector on a long-term contract from their site in Brize Norton. This role is fully onsite and will require candidates to undergo BPSS clearance prior to starting.
FINANCE ASSISTANT - INSIDE IR35 - £32 PER HOUR - BRIZE NORTON - LONG-TERM CONTRACT - BPSS CLEARANCE - FINANCIAL REPORTING - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS - SECTOR: AEROSPACE & DEFENCE
This position operates on a standard 35-hour week across 4.5 days, working between 07:00 and 19:00 subject to business requirements. Candidates should expect to be onsite full-time, working closely with senior finance stakeholders.
As a Finance Assistant, you will provide vital support to the Financial Controller, helping to manage financial planning, reporting and analysis activities across the business. You will support decision-making by producing financial data, analysing operational costs and assisting with forecasting, budgeting and financial performance reporting.
Working closely with operational, procurement and finance teams, you will help manage cost forecasts, cash forecasting, cost centre reporting and financial controls. The role will also involve supporting month-end activities, invoicing processes, accruals, journal postings and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
Skillset/experience required:
What can you bring to the role?
- Previous experience within a Finance Assistant, Assistant Financial Controller or similar finance support position
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, profit and loss reporting and cash flow management
- Experience supporting financial forecasting, budgeting and cost control activities
- Ability to produce and analyse cost centre reports and financial performance data
- Experience supporting month-end activities, accruals and journal postings
- Understanding of procurement processes and financial coding principles
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Experience working closely with senior finance stakeholders
- Confident user of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Experience supporting invoicing, treasury and financial administration activities
- AAT, CIMA or similar finance qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and drive efficiencies
