MERITUS are recruiting for a Logistics Business Controller to join our aerospace client on an initial 8 month contract within their manufacturing controls team in Broughton.

Logistics Business Controller - INSIDE IR35 - £29.00 PER HOUR - BROUGHTON, FLINTSHIRE - CONTRACT UNTIL 31/12/2026 - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Challenge

  • Develop a strong understanding of the operational environment, including strategy, governance, challenges, and constraints.
  • Lead financial planning processes, ensuring accurate forecasting, providing guidance aligned with the overall financial position, and constructively challenging business requests.
  • Establish and maintain multi-year financial targets.
  • Build and manage financial models, simulations, scenarios, and business cases (e.g. projects, acquisitions, tenders) to support decision-making and provide clear insight into financial impacts.
  • Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities, advising on appropriate mitigation strategies.

Analysis & Advisory

  • Deliver accurate and appropriately detailed financial reporting.
  • Evaluate financial performance, analyse variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyse cost structures, revenue streams, unit costs, and research and development expenditure.
  • Identify key drivers for optimisation and competitiveness, and track the realisation of savings.
  • Anticipate financial risks and provide mitigation recommendations.
  • Identify and highlight financial opportunities.

Execution Support & Data Quality

  • Calculate hourly rates and support resource reviews and headcount target setting.
  • Prepare charge-back and cost reallocation models.
  • Approve purchasing requests, audit purchase orders below approval thresholds (using a sampling approach), and review commitments and accruals.
  • Initiate cost re-booking and cost transfers where required.
