MERITUS are recruiting for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our client, a growing precision engineering business supporting the aerospace sector in Northern Ireland. This is a permanent opportunity created through expansion, with significant new aerospace projects already approved and ready to move into production.
SENIOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - CNC PROGRAMMING - £45,000-£50,000+ DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE - PORTADOWN, NORTHERN IRELAND - PERMANENT - AEROSPACE / PRECISION ENGINEERING
The business is experiencing significant growth and has a strong pipeline of work for the coming years. Recent investment includes new state-of-the-art machinery and expanded manufacturing facilities, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for long-term stability alongside technically interesting work.
You’ll join an established engineering team of around 10-12 people, typically working collaboratively in groups of two or three to introduce new products into production.
What will you be doing?
  • Delivering New Product Introduction (NPI) projects for precision-engineered aerospace components
  • Offline CNC programming for 3, 4 and 5-axis milling using CAM software such as MasterCAM or CATIA V5
  • Designing fixtures and workholding solutions
  • Selecting cutting tools and developing effective machining strategies
  • Verifying NC programs using Vericut and supporting prove-out activities
  • Creating manufacturing processes, work instructions and machine set-up documentation
  • Working closely with Production and Quality to improve existing manufacturing processes
  • Supporting projects from initial manufacturing concept through to production
What are we looking for?
  • Around 5+ years' experience within precision manufacturing, CNC machining or a closely related engineering environment
  • Hands-on experience using CAM software such as MasterCAM, CATIA V5, Hypermill, EdgeCAM or similar
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining strategies, processes and G & M codes
  • Experience working within aerospace, automotive, precision engineering or another relevant high-quality manufacturing environment
  • HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline, or a completed engineering apprenticeship backed by relevant manufacturing experience
  • A collaborative, practical approach and willingness to contribute across the wider engineering team
Experience with any of the following would be useful:
  • Aerospace manufacturing or aerospace engine components
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • CMM / precision inspection
  • Advanced CNC functions including macro programming and probing
  • FANUC, Heidenhain or Siemens controls
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
Why consider this opportunity?
This is a genuine growth role rather than a replacement. The company has secured substantial new work and continues to invest heavily in its manufacturing capability.
There is a strong focus on job security, long-term aerospace programmes and giving engineers the opportunity to work with modern manufacturing technology.
  • £45,000-£50,000+ salary depending on experience, with flexibility for particularly strong candidates
  • Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-4:00pm and Friday, 7:00am-12 noon
  • Private medical benefits
  • Death in service benefit
  • Additional holiday and long-service holiday benefits
Candidates relocating to Northern Ireland can be considered. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
