Senior Software Engineer (Java) | Cheltenham (Hybrid 3 days per week on-site) | Up to £80,000 | SC Clearance required
MERITUS ware excited to be supporting a growing Secure Technical Consultancy looking for an SC Cleared Senior Software Engineer to support one of their National Security Clients.
The role is largely backend focused, working across a modern cloud-native stack. You’ll be building and maintaining services primarily using Java and Python and deploying applications into the cloud using Kubernetes. Infrastructure is managed through Terraform, and the platform makes use of technologies such as Elasticsearch to support data search and analytics requirements.
Active SC clearance is essential due to the nature of the work. They also require candidates to be eligible for DV clearance.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and improve backend services and applications
- Take ownership of technical delivery within your area of the system
- Work closely with other engineers, DevOps, and stakeholders in an agile environment
- Contribute to design decisions and help guide less experienced team members
- Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and fit for purpose
Required Skills:
- Active SC Clearance
- Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Python
- Experience working with Cloud Technologies (Azure / AWS) in production environments
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes and containerised deployments
- Experience using Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools
