MERITUS are recruiting for a Supplier Planner to join our client on an initial 6 month contract to support upcoming defence programmes in Bolton.
SUPPLIER PLANNER - INSIDE IR35 - £27 PER HOUR - 6 MONTHS - BOLTON, ONSITE - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS
This position sits within a procurement function, specifically focused on supplier planning activities. The role contributes to the ongoing development and maturity of supplier planning processes, aligned with recognised industry best practices.
You will work closely with manufacturing operations and gain exposure to various programmes, while providing key support to the wider procurement team. The role also offers opportunities to manage specific supplier categories, with a focus on improving delivery performance and inventory management. A strong understanding of on-time delivery (OTD) is essential, as it plays a central role in planning activities.

You will work as part of a cross-functional team, collaborating with procurement, supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing planning stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

Support supplier planning activities to ensure effective delivery and inventory performance.

Monitor and analyse supplier performance against key metrics.

Collaborate with internal teams to align supply chain and manufacturing requirements.

Identify and resolve data inaccuracies within planning systems.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within supplier planning processes.
Skills and Experience Required:

Experience working in an MRP (or similar) planning environment within manufacturing.

Ability to identify data issues and implement corrective actions.

Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) is desirable, though training can be provided.

Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to influence and support decision-making across the supply base.

Willingness to travel to supplier sites and company offices as required.

Experience managing scheduled orders and fixed purchase orders.

Understanding of supply chain KPIs and performance measures.

A proactive, continuous improvement mindset with the ability to contribute new ideas.
