MERITUS are recruiting for a Systems Performance Modelling Engineer to join our client within the defence sector on a 6 month contract from either their Stevenage or Bristol site. Due to the sensitive nature of the work, candidates must hold active SC Clearance to start and meet UK Eyes Only requirements.
SYSTEMS PERFORMANCE MODELLING ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - UP TO £85 PER HOUR (Negotiable) - STEVENAGE OR BRISTOL - 6 MONTHS - SC CLEARED - MATLAB/SIMULINK - 1 STAGE VIRTUAL INTERVIEW - SECTOR: DEFENCE
This position is fully onsite due to the sensitive nature of the work, although a 4-day compressed working week can be accommodated if required. Travel to other UK sites will be rare, with candidates predominantly working from their home site.
As a Systems Performance Modelling Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated models of RF radar seeker systems, covering seeker hardware, digital processing and the target environment. Working within a specialist modelling team, you will develop models, produce auto-code, generate seeker performance predictions and integrate seeker models into wider dynamic reference models.
You will undertake modelling using MATLAB and Simulink, develop and implement algorithms, verify auto-generated software code and validate model components against real-world data. You will also support seeker performance assessments, upgrade legacy models, create test vectors and clearly document model changes and results.
Skillset/experience required:
What can you bring to the role?
- Strong MATLAB and Simulink experience
- Experience using model-based design techniques
- Algorithm design and/or validation experience
- Experience developing and validating complex engineering models
- Experience modelling for auto-code generation
- Ability to assess the suitability and performance of algorithms within models
- Experience validating models against real-world data
- Ability to convert algorithms into Simulink models would be advantageous
- Radar and control systems knowledge would be advantageous
- Digital Signal Processing experience would be beneficial
