Meritus are partnered with a growing aviation MRO organisation seeking a commercially driven Director of Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives across the North American aviation market.
This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity focused on expanding customer relationships, securing new maintenance programmes, and driving long-term revenue growth across commercial, cargo, corporate, and specialised aviation sectors.
The successful individual will bring a strong understanding of the aviation landscape, customer procurement cycles, operational delivery environments, and airline/operator stakeholder structures.
You will play a key role in shaping market strategy, identifying growth opportunities, and positioning the organisation competitively across the aviation maintenance sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business development strategy across MRO services
- Identify, qualify, and secure new customer opportunities across airlines, operators, leasing companies, and aviation stakeholders
- Build and maintain executive-level customer relationships
- Develop strategic account plans focused on long-term revenue growth
- Support contract negotiations, commercial proposals, and customer engagement activity
- Work closely with operational leadership to align commercial commitments with maintenance capability and capacity planning
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and emerging programme opportunities
- Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings
- Support expansion into new service lines, platforms, or geographic markets where applicable
Requirements
- Proven business development leadership experience within a MRO
- Strong understanding of aviation maintenance operations and commercial structures
- Existing industry network across airlines, operators, leasing companies, or aviation service providers
- Track record securing long-term contracts and developing strategic customer relationships
- Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder management capability
- Ability to operate effectively within complex, fast-paced operational environments
- Experience working alongside maintenance, operations, and executive leadership teams
- Knowledge of FAA regulatory environments and aviation compliance frameworks preferred
